To create this beautiful and diverse main title sequence for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, World Rugby collaborated with 16 female artists from the teams’ host countries.
The sequence kicks off with a piece by traditional Māori painter Xoë Hall and rolls through art work from Japan, Spain, Samoa, France, Italy, South Africa, Fiji, the U.S., Ireland, Brazil, Australia, Wales, Canada and Scotland. It concludes with the entry from the host country, England.
“Art and sport have never really collided like this before. It was an honour to be chosen to represent our country in this way,” said Hall, the New Zealand artist behind the reigning champions’ piece, in a statement.
The only unifying requirement between the pieces was that each had to feature an oval shape at the center. The sequence was produced in collaboration between World Rugby, AE Live Ignite and HBS, which led the creative development and production of the sequence.
“The title sequence for Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 is a worldwide collaboration of ideas and designs,” said Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 Managing Director Sarah Massey, also in a statement. “Each artwork is unique, yet they come seamlessly together to form a powerful, unified celebration of women’s rugby. We always said Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 would not only celebrate the players but showcase women who are inspiring and contributing to the tournament around the world.”
The Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 began in the UK on August 22 and will be played through September 27, with the final match to be held at London’s 80,000-capacity Twickenham Stadium.
