New York-based creative company Sibling Rivalry has appointed Kristen Bedard Johnson (KBJ) as managing director. In this role, KBJ will work closely with Sibling Rivalry’s film and studio teams to define strategy and unlock opportunities to showcase and unite the company’s brand, marketing and production capabilities.
KBJ brings to Sibling Rivalry more than two decades of experience in live-action production, talent management and creative partnerships. With a background in art and theater, she began her career touring on Broadway before transitioning into sales and executive producing in commercial film. Her experience as a represented actress informs her talent-first approach to management.
Throughout her career, KBJ has partnered with directors and agencies to produce global campaigns, immersive experiences and brand-driven storytelling. She has held positions at Furlined, Smuggler and Sanctuary Content.
KBJ says it was Sibling Rivalry’s multi-leadership team and reputation that drew her.
“It’s rare to find a company that not only mirrors how you think and work, but also shares your values. What I love most about Sibling Rivalry is that it's a place where the best ideas win and people are given the creative freedom to experiment, succeed, fail, and grow,” KBJ said in a statement.
Sibling Rivalry Executive Producer David Brickel says KBJ’s appointment will help the company “connect the dots and push the whole company forward.”
“Bringing KBJ on feels like we just poured rocket fuel on Sibling Rivalry,” he said.
Darren Foldes, Sibling Rivalry partner and head of films, added, “KBJ knows how to bring out the best in people. We have an incredible roster of filmmakers, who each have something uniquely their own – but at the same time, focus that vision through the lens of a project’s needs while mirroring the values and culture that define Sibling Rivalry. As we continue to push creative boundaries for our clients, KBJ will help keep us true to who we are.”
Based in New York, KBJ will collaborate with Sibling Rivalry’s teams in Los Angeles and New York to shape the company’s directorial roster, lead key brand and production initiatives, and remain “ruthlessly curious” in pursuing new creative partnerships and opportunities.
