Christmas 2025 is over, but Christmas 2026 has just begun.

Marvel on Tuesday released a one-minute teaser for Avengers: Doomsday, which, for the first time, will feature the X-Men. The movie releases on December 18, 2026.

The X-Men Will Return:

The trailer begins with the camera sweeping over Professor Xavier's (Patrick Stewart) partially destroyed school for gifted youngsters. It then later looks on as Xavier visits an aged Magneto (Ian McKellan), who muses about death.

“Death comes for us all. That’s all I know for sure. The question isn’t, ‘Are you prepared to die?’ The question is, ‘Who will you be when you close your eyes?’”

Another question is who will you be when you open your eyes, as we see James Marsden’s Cyclops doing as an enormous creature stomps around in the background.

All three of those actors appeared in 2000’s X-Men and all were confirmed by Marvel last year to be part of the Doomsday cast. Avengers: Doomsday also stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Steve Rogers.

Thor Will Return:

Steve Rogers Will Return:

In both teasers, Thor and Rogers – aka Captain America – have become fathers, giving them even more reason to fight to save the world.

Also anticipated is Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the Marvel Universe – not as Iron Man, who died after sacrificing himself in Avengers: Endgame, but as iconic Marvel villain Dr. Doom.

Teases for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday have been playing throughout the holidays ahead of James Cameron’s third Avatar installment,  Avatar: Fire and Ash.
