Xander Schauffele, the third highest-ranked golfer in the world, stars in this :30 that’s doing a lot of work in a short time: it promotes the new movie, Jurassic World Rebirth, which opens in theaters July 2; it hypes the U.S. Open on NBC and Peacock, which teed off on June 12 and ran through June 15; and it gets in a sneaky plug for golf equipment and apparel brand, Callaway.
Produced by Wavemaker Creative, the spot features Schauffele hitting a solid shot out of a sand trap and sinking it in the hole. As the camera pulls back and the Jurassic World Rebirth score starts to play, the viewer realizes the trap is actually a giant dinosaur footprint set in a jungle paradise with pteradactyls flying above. The spot closes with Schauffele running away from something that’s presumably large and hungry.
“This is great practice for the U.S. Open,” Schauffele says as he flees.
